Creating an integrated e-shop for gamers

The economic problem: Gamercraft paid all gains in cash, creating significant outflows without the possibility of reinvestment in the ecosystem.

My solution: I have designed an integrated e-shop allowing players to directly convert their winnings into useful gift cards and products. The e-shop reduced cash outflows by 40% while creating a new source of income.

Impact

  • New revenue source via product margins

  • 68% adoption regular players

  • Flexible architecture future partnerships

Role

  • Product architecture: scalable system

  • Design interface: integrated shopping experience

  • Validation tests: adoption and real uses

Contexte

  • Period: 2024

  • Problem: Gains paid cash = direct outflows

  • User request: use gains on platform

  • Team: Solo design + collaboration PM USA

Define content and plan for the future

For the first version, we opted for a simple and pragmatic solution:

  • Gift cards: Players can purchase gift cards from their favorite brands with their winnings.

  • Flexibility for the future: The e-shop structure was designed to allow future addition of new types of items, such as tickets, physical objects, or in-game power-ups.

This approach allowed us to quickly respond to immediate needs while creating a solid foundation for future developments.

Seamless design and integration

Integration was a key element of this project. I reused the modal designed to join a tournament, already proven on the platform, which allowed us to guarantee:

  • Visual consistency with the rest of the platform.

  • Rapid user adoption, thanks to design familiarity.

  • Reduced costs and development time by reusing existing components.

Learning from user testing

User testing highlighted a crucial need: players' uncertainty about the location of purchased items. This discovery pushed us to create a clear and flexible inventory, capable of:

  • Displaying clear visuals for each item.

  • Easily integrating new product categories, thanks to a flexible component.

These adjustments eliminated player doubts and laid the groundwork for future e-shop evolution.
